Then once we got back from Oslo and Copenhagen we took the train to Edinburgh. This was my second visit to Edinburgh and I loved it as much as the first. We went to see Mary King's close, which is a ton of closes or homes from the 16oo's that are now underneath the city. It is very spooky and amazing to see the way people lived during the time of the "Black Plague." We also went through Edinburgh castle that offers amazing views of the city and historical information about Scotland. Next to the castle there is a wool mill that produces kilts, blankets, sweaters, and scarves. You can walk through this mill and see how these products are made. It was interesting! After the wool mill we went to the Whiskey Experience. We ran out of time to take my mother to a proper whiskey distillery in Scotland so they have an informative tour of all of the whiskey regions and whiskey's in Scotland. It was a great tour and we got to have a "wee dram" of whiskey at the end of the tour. I prefer my whiskey with coke and based on my mother's facial expression when she tried hers, she does too! It was funny! We had such a great time in Edinburgh.
After my mother and I got back from Edinburgh we went to the highland games in Stonehaven. Again Clifton and I had been to a highland game but the one we went to was much bigger. The Stonehaven highland games got us up and personal with the events. We could see everything much better and got better pictures. Same as last time, the tug of war was our favorite event. After this post I will put a video on the blog so you can see how funny, skilled, and technical this event really is. I am still amazed by it. My mother loved it and it was a great end to her vacation in Scotland. I can't wait for her to be back next summer so I can show her more stuff. There is so much that Clifton and I haven't experienced in Scotland so I know I will have a whole new list of things for my mother and I to do next year.
